If the UCI has ditched 4X and not substituted something like Dual Slalom without consultation I'm going to rage pretty hard.

why? it means there's more money put into DH, which can only be good, the WC 4X tracks the past few years have been jokes anyway, i say its all good, now 4x can branch off and start its own world series and have it alot more exciting than when the UCI ran it

@bisk - This Website is called pinkBIKE, not pinkdownhillbike.

Check your self before you wreck your self

And I'm not going to lie . . . . STILL no DHI at Whistler ?!

Once again, it is pretty much the Euro Cup instead of a world cup

 Dual slalom would be sweet.

Here are my picks for the men's winners:

1. Pietermarizburg: Gwin

2. Val di sole: Minnar

3. Ft. William: Hart

4. Mt. St. Ann: Gwin

5. Windham: Gwin

6. Val d'Isere: Brosnan

7. Hafjell: Fairclough

Bisk, there is no way that they intend to put more money into DH, what they intend to do it put more money into their bank accounts every week. As the claw was saying as his event after crankworks, they are greedy people and they make me sick!

Snow is not a problem, it's the rain. It rained so much in Norway this year, there were small land slides around Hafjell, I heard that even in The bikepark itself. I hope it's gonna be better next year, I mean it can't be worse I think...

UCI really sucks !!! ...from Road racing to DH...the decision making has been controversial for years now, and it's time for a change...this year, the racers have specifically voiced their opinions on how a fun 4X track should look like...but instead of listening to them, the UCI prefers to cancel the 4X races altogether ??? what a farce !!!....
  • + 2
flag bryantaber (Sep 22, 2011 at 14:51)
Some of the mountains cannot afford to build the 4x discpline, especially in the US. Really it is all about selling bikes, ultimately, and decent DS competitions can foster the seeds of DJ / HT frames sales just as well. In these tought economic times I'm sure the UCI had it's reasons. Windham could not afford the 4X build last year and was supposed to lose the WC bid for next year. Thankfully the UCI has given them another shot WITHOUT the need for the 4x. It's a minor issue for the American Northeast fans but it's better than nothing!!!! I'm not sure if the 2 are related but I'm very glad it's back to NY again next year.

Windham did not offer a World Cup level race this year and should never be allowed to host another race next year...Broke ass mountain that could not even offer a 4x track....that race should go back to Bromont where it belongs !!!!
  • + 1
flag georgy291 (Sep 24, 2011 at 3:35)
 it should come anywhere really!

since the entire world cup is only 7 races with nearly all of them being with in 100miles of each other in Europe. So really any additional locations would be highly welcomed by everyone.

I think them main problem here is UCI and their lack of care for any sort of off road riding. They put huge amounts of effort in to arranging events like tour de france etc. And yet still theres only 7 DH races in a season. I know this is unlikely to happen, but if say all mountain biking dropped from UCI and formed its own thing sponsored by people like Red Bull or Nissan i think then things would be better for everyone. As UCI can play with Lycra, and let people who know what they are doing sort out the mtb. Currently as it stands Nissan have more DH races a season than UCI, despite the fact UCI are the "official" body

flag FastDHR (Sep 24, 2011 at 3:52)
you're right dude....if they keep on following those fools, DH is doomed.....soooo many mountains could offer pro level tracks....I really hope DH follows the FourCross Alliance and give UCI the boot !!!

@FastDh Dont beat up on Windham. It's not Bromont, but it did put up a really fast, challenging course. Besides you guys still have Mt. st Anne. Dont be such a Mt Hog!!!! Howeever I wont deny that the 4x final under the lights was not missed last year. That shit was tight!!

"...They put huge amounts of effort in to arranging events like tour de france etc..."

UCI has nothing to do with the Tour de France organisation.
TdF is owned and organised by a private company "A.S.O" (http://www.aso.fr)
Don't give themtoo much credits.

@Oisans ...UCI has it's name written all over the major Tours....the Yellow, Pink, Green, best climber, best under 21, World Cup leader, World Champ jerseys.....it all belongs to the UCI....so does the Tour de France...just try to imagine it without it's leader jersey

Any one else notice there is a 3 month break from the first race to the second? Its supposed to be a series? So the athletes are expected to be in top shape for round one and then maintain it all the way through? Thats quite the order. I understand the snow issues at most big resorts, but why not just wait on the first round?

flag dmacrostie (Sep 22, 2011 at 15:54)

So XC isn't racing any more? The DH riders might get a break but the XC riders do not.
  • + 0
flag skatejunkie (Sep 23, 2011 at 11:15)
The xc riders have about a 2 week break mid season which makes some sense. If you'd ever had to train of a racing season you'd know what i mean, but I get the feeling you haven't maybe? You spend a good portion of the off season trying to get into the best shape you can to start the season off and then you spend the rest of the on season racing and working to maintain and sharpen your skills. If you drop out of your peak shape too early its a bitch and half to get it back. and training months for one race and then having to either maintain that speed or break for a while and then rebuild to top shape just sucks. I'm sure there's probably some logistical reason behind the schedule, but to me it just further shows that UCI doesn't give a crap about gravity racing

This confirms what i've been saying for the last 12 years. Windham mountain has tons of potential and could easily be the number 1 dh destination on the east coast. The big question is will they ever open the mt to the public??? I know the entire mt very well and can tell you there is mind boggling amounts of terrain there of all types. The uci must like the mt as well to use it 3 years in a row. In my opinion its probably the most fun track to watch and run on the circuit.

The UCI is claiming to dropping 4X due to "environmental impact".

If you think Environmental Groups will quit after 4X, your dreaming.
DH and XC is next on the list...

Environmental Groups are not your friends.
Never give money to those groups.
Give money to IMBA who fight to retain what MTB access is left.
