Duncan PhilpottIt was a great day at Fort William. New Zealand rider Brook MacDonald took the early lead with a time that was over 4 seconds faster than yesterdays fastest qualifier Aaron Gwin, but it was Greg Minnaar with the run of the day, finishing in 4:43.854. Danny Hart had a crazy loose looking run for an amazing second place finish, while Brook's time held up well enough to leave him on the podium in 3rd place. Gwin looked to be having an amazing run at the top, several seconds ahead if you can believe the timing, but supposedly slipped a few pedals in the bottom sections and lost about 5 seconds? That's almost enough time for a quick get off and the word from a source at Trek is that he did have a minor crash. Still in there for 5th place just after Gee who finished the race with a wrecked rear wheel, only 6 spokes left by his count...

full results at bottomCam Cole threw down a great run early on as well and sat in second behind MacDonald for most of the race while Cedric Gracia threw down a stylish slopestyle run that included a couple of no handers and a sick whip over the finish line jump. Steve Smith looked to be having a fast run but had a big bobble at the top and finished his run with one of his knee pads around his ankle. It was great to see Dan Atherton back in the game, unfortunately he flatted and didn't have a good finish, welcome back though! Andrew Neethling was also among those who flatted, his flat occurred near the start and he elected to take the gondola back down rather than ride the rocks on rim. Probably a smart choice...
