nothing to do with quicktime or any other codec, the issue had to do with Contour's website being down for a few hours today, it should be all good now...
Helmet mounted Contour just doesn't do him justice. I weighed up all the alternatives before I bought my GoPro HD and the fact it could be (easily) chest mounted was the most important factor in the decision. Seeing the bars and getting some perspective when the bike is pushed right over in corners gives so much more to the viewer. In my opinion this footage undersells what a great rider Danny is.
if a contour was mounted to his chest it would look just as good...probably better. The audio on my gopro sux. i am sure he did not want ANY camera mounted to his chest while training. He kills it and so smooth.
The contour mount would almost be sitting directly behind your stem cause it sticks so far out. plus to get a decent angle it needs to be pointing almost at your face. Don't know if the contour can do that.
I find the chest mount is fine on really knarly stuff, but you have tighten the elastic right up, you don't feel encumbered at all, just stops it shaking around. This is mine on a rocky track:
Why is everyone bitching about what camera is better? The whole point is to show you how fast Danny is!!! Just sit back and enjoy the free video! Can't wait for him to smash his opponents this year. Good luck this season Danny.
focus ahead where the rider would be looking, like 2 seconds in front, and you'll realize how fast he's moving along. I wish more pros would post headcams, way cool

Here we go again, Contour haters are out in force. Regardless of helmet cam used it would be rattled around. That course is rutted and rocky beyond belief...True, Contours do pick up wind noise, new models have a microphone jack to stop this. I have seen Go Pro footage that is terrible, i prefer Contour over Go Pro because i like the look of contour over go pro. Back to the video now, it was awesome in my opinion. End of, Danny is going to on top of the world this year...
HI everyone- We're really sorry about the website issues we experienced yesterday. Crappy timing as it coincided right when this post was going up. It's back to work now and should allow anyone to watch the video. I'll go ahead and address some of the issues brought up. Video is shaky: Danny was moving pretty fast on a very rough track. This is going to be cause for as somewhat shaky video. How the camera is mounted will make a difference as well as the type of mount being used. Some have moving parts which may add shake. Some do not have moving parts and are more stable. Video quality: Every video that's posted to most video sites is going to go through compression that degrades the quality of the video. The raw file would look best for clarity and a video edited in post will always seem smoother no matter which camera you use. These videos weren't edited. There was no motion stabilizing going on in post. This is what the rider sees.
Again, I, we, our team is really sorry the site was broken yesterday. It was crappy timing indeed and something we're looking to make sure doesn't happen again. If you have any other questions about the cameras, files, etc feel free to PM me.

I agree with you mate, GoPro's are a lot better, the sound on contours suck, they rattle in their brackets on helmets etc and are not as awesome as GoPro's :') plus there seems to be no HD on this one!
My 2 cents on this discussion: I have tried GoPro's and I have a Countour ROAM. This "mine's bigger than yours" bickering will go forever... the fact is, they are pretty much close to each other in features and quality, it goes down to personal preference.
If I were to engage on a 'fact' based argument, my experience would allow me to say: - GoPro's sound is just as bad (yeah, Contour sucks too), but again, I don't know of any cheap POV camera that has any decent sound capabilities with the built in mic. I'd say, the Contour takes the win here because (at least on the ROAM) the mic is water prof. - GoPro's default color settings tends to be more vivid, Contour look a bit more natural (maybe a bit on the pale side). I don't see this as a good or bad thing. - The rattle on the Countour's... well, I have never experienced that, so I don't know. Maybe the camera mount choices has something to do with it? - Video being jumpy, well CMOS based cameras suck anyway (which both contour and gopro's are I believe) for anything with lots of movement. Once they move to CCD, that's going to be a very different story all together.
And on the vids above, yes, the video edit does suck a bit...

I think when you commented 7 or 8 hours ago it wasn't working for anyone, Contour's website was down. So it's nothing to do with your browser. Check back, it should be working fine now...
I dont think contour av done themselves any favours posting this. If ur gunna put a camera on the world champ then make sure people can actually watch the bloody thing! Contour FAIL!
I was told very specifically that it was San Romolo and that San Remo has only XC trails, not DH. Do you know something that I don't about the area? I'd be stoked to know something more...
San Romolo is a part of the town of Sanremo (one word). It's the part of town that is closest to Monte Bignone, on which these trails are. You are both right. Worth a day or two of deviation on a Finale Ligure trip, btw.
It's an important distinction to make for the trails, as the downhill track is very different to something like Il Tubo on the Sanremo side... Although they're more enduro than XC, I wouldn't fancy trying Anti Gravity in Sanremo on an XC bike!
