Champery World Championships 2011 - National Teams

by Ian Hylands
Aug 31, 2011 at 8:57

While the UCI has listed all the athletes that will be competing by division and country, there are most likely a number of riders that will be missing. Notably absent in DH will be last years runner up Steve Smith from Canada, Steve currently is waiting to undergo surgery for a Tibia injury sustained in practice at Val di Sole. Also missing is Cedric Gracia who was having a great season before injuring his knee at French National Champs back in July.

Take a look through the list and let us know who you think might win, riders and national teams both.

UCI World Champs Gravity Entries

Who do you think will make up the top three? Put those guesses down below!

Yep you look at Britain's roster and its pretty funny how many of the big names are there. I blame it on all the steep gnarly tracks there that raise up guys who ride trails that aren't always buttery smooth.

Fort William being the most popular. You hear Danny Hart, Steve Peat, The Athertons, everyone talking about how it's like coming home when they race Fort Bill, so that's why!

*Great Britain, not England. But yeah the standard of the UK team is epic.

I say it's because 'Great Britain' is made up of a bunch of different counties it would be interesting to see how 'those' countries would stack up by themselves not as a collective. NZ is going to win this I'm pretty confident!

Weird that Australia has such strong mens DH and 4X teams but no women? Would have thought Caroline Buchanan would be in the 4X.

I find that quite strange too. Being an Australian and pretty tight in the industry over here, it surprises me that MTBA (MTB Australia) didn't select a terrible lot of woman to represent us.
Never fear, Tracey Hannah will be back next year!
